RESEARCH

Professor Constandinou's research explores how microelectronic systems can interface with the body and brain, spanning implantable neural technologies, bioelectronic systems and unobtrusive sensing platforms for healthcare. His group builds highly integrated, ultra-low-power circuits and systems, working at the limits of size, efficiency and functionality while designing for real-world deployment.

 

Areas of interest include:

  • Neural microsystems and implantable integrated circuits
  • Brain-machine interfaces and closed-loop neurostimulation
  • Radar-on-chip and contactless sensing for health monitoring
  • Edge signal processing and real-time embedded intelligence
  • Bio-inspired and adaptive circuit design
  • Translational neurotechnology for epilepsy, Parkinson's disease and dementia

 

The group's portfolio includes EPSRC, MRC, ARIA and NIHR-funded projects on distributed neural implants, next-generation neurotechnology platforms and radar-based home monitoring for dementia care. The work bridges fundamental engineering, neuroscience and clinical translation, delivering impact through academic, clinical and industrial partnerships, including the Imperial spin-out MintNeuro.
