TEACHING INTERESTS

I co-lead the development, delivery and evaluation of the Lifestyle Medicine and Prevention (LMAP) curriculum. LMAP equips students to understand the wider determinants of health, apply principles of behaviour change, and support health and wellbeing across the lifespan. As a rapidly growing discipline, Lifestyle Medicine aims to reduce the global burden of non‑communicable disease through evidence‑based behavioural interventions. In contrast to traditional paternalistic models, Lifestyle Medicine emphasises shared decision-making and empowers patients to adopt health behaviours that align with their values and circumstances.

The LMAP curriculum is structured around three core aims:

  1. Enhancing student wellbeing: Supporting students to understand and optimise their own health and wellbeing throughout medical training and future clinical practice.
  2. Developing Lifestyle Medicine competencies: Training students in the knowledge, skills, and behaviours that underpin effective lifestyle interventions and improve patient health trajectories.
  3. Fostering a population health mindset: Enabling students to situate individual patient care within broader social, environmental, and systemic determinants of health.

These aims are delivered through a flipped‑classroom approach that encourages active engagement, self-reflection, and critical thinking about personal health behaviours and behaviour‑change challenges.

I also contribute psychology‑focused project-supervision within the Remote Medicine BSc. These typicaly focus on the impact disrupted sleep has on team perfomance. At post-graduate level I contribute to the Master’s of Public Health, delivering sessions on the Psychology of Behaviour Change.
