DrAlexandra M. Cardoso Pinto

I am a medical doctor and academic with training in Medicine and Global Health at Imperial College London, where I graduated with distinctions. My work sits at the intersection of clinical practice, global child health, infectious diseases, and medical education, with a strong emphasis on equity, ethics, and partnership with communities.

My academic portfolio spans global health research, paediatric and adolescent infectious diseases, refugee and migrant health, and educational innovation. I have led and contributed to research published in leading journals including The Lancet Global Health, BMJ, BMJ Paediatrics Open, PLoS Global Public Health, and BMC Medical Education, alongside conference presentations at national and international fora. Alongside research, I am deeply engaged in curriculum development and teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, particularly in global health, primary care, sustainability, and reflective practice.

A central theme of my work is translating research into meaningful change. This includes influencing journal policy on ethical imagery use, redesigning medical curricula to address power, positionality, and sustainability, and co-developing models of care for unaccompanied asylum-seeking children that integrate physical, mental, and social health. I am particularly committed to participatory, ethically grounded approaches that centre lived experience and foster equitable global health partnerships.
