BIO

Dr Wei Hutchinson is an interdisciplinary educator, researcher, and practitioner working across behavioural science, design, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Her background brings together a PhD in Marketing, a Master’s in Entrepreneurial Leadership in Global Business, and a Master’s in Social Work with counselling experience.

This combination has shaped her interest in people, behaviour, and change. Her work explores how individuals make decisions, respond to designed experiences, work in teams, and develop confidence in uncertain professional settings. At the Dyson School of Design Engineering, she brings this perspective to design engineering education, where technical and creative ideas need to be connected with users, organisations, and real world impact.

Alongside her academic role, Wei works with businesses and start ups through consultancy, brand positioning, customer insight, and commercially grounded decision making. She is particularly interested in the bridge between higher education and industry, bringing real business challenges into teaching and helping students develop the judgement, confidence, and practical awareness needed for contemporary work.
