TEACHING INTERESTS
I have held 8 teaching roles in mathematical methods, biomathematics, and fluid dynamics. This includes departmental small-group tutoring of first year mathematics undergraduates (2015-2016, 6 students); graduate teaching assistant (GTA) for Mathematical methods I&II (2017-2019, ∼ 50 students); senior GTA for Multi-variable calculus (2019, ∼ 200 students); and instructing postgraduate tutorials in Multiphase flows for the CDT in Fluid Dynamics Across Scales (2018, ∼ 20 students). I also taught and developed asynchronous enhancement materials for Advance topics in mathematical biology (2021-2023, ∼ 25 students); and taught mathematics to undergraduate biologists and biochemists for modules in Integrated systems biology (2024, ∼ 60 students) and Cellular biophysics (2025, ∼ 30 students). Additionally, I designed and delivered an online Introduction to hydrodynamic interactions models class for an early career researcher (ECR) day at Biofilm and bioactive fluids workshop (2022, ∼ 60 students) to help ECRs analyse the usefulness of different methodologies.
I have used a range of teaching techniques (e.g. traditional lectures, flipped classrooms, and interactive learning tools), discussed and presented course materials, organised problems classes, scheduled and trained GTAs, facilitated communication between GTAs, students and the course lecturers, invigilated and marked weekly assessments, wrote lecture notes and problem solutions, supported students with answering seen and unseen problem sheet questions, and actively engaged students with reading and analysing current research papers. I also integrated online voting tools (Mentimeter) into course webpages on Blackboard Learn and Canvas, allowing students to anonymously submit questions while also letting them see which questions their peers had already submitted to build confidence.
