BIO
Dr Sima Toopchiani is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Surgery and Cancer at Imperial College London. She completed her PhD in Clinical Medicine Research within the School of Public Health at Imperial College London, specialising in Epidemiology and Biostatistics. Her doctoral research investigated sex differences and the role of female-specific events on cognition and dementia risk among cognitively healthy adults.
She currently works on the Cancer Loyalty Card Study-2 (CLOCS-2), where she applies epidemiological and biostatistical methods to large-scale retail and health datasets to investigate whether changes in consumer purchasing behaviour may help identify cancer symptoms earlier in the diagnostic pathway. Prior to her current role, she worked in clinical trials and dementia prevention research across academic and NHS settings, coordinating Phase II and III studies in cardiovascular disease, dementia prevention, surgery, and cancer. She also previously project managed CLOCS-2 and has experience in clinical trial monitoring, study coordination, and multidisciplinary research delivery.
