MrShady Adib

Dr Shady Adib is a Visiting Researcher in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Imperial College London and an I-X Global Early-Career AI Fellow. His research focuses on artificial intelligence, structural health monitoring and Digital Twins for resilient civil infrastructure.

He received his PhD in Civil Engineering from Newcastle University, where his research investigated Digital Twin frameworks for real-time structural damage identification. His current work at Imperial explores AI-enabled data imputation and uncertainty-aware state estimation for self-generating Digital Twins, with particular emphasis on maintaining reliable structural condition assessment when monitoring data are incomplete, corrupted or unavailable. His broader research interests include physics-guided and generative AI, data assimilation, sensor-data reconstruction, structural dynamics, uncertainty quantification and intelligent infrastructure monitoring. He is particularly interested in developing Digital Twin systems that can continuously adapt to changing data availability and support robust engineering decision-making throughout the life cycle of infrastructure assets.

Alongside his research, Shady contributes to teaching in systems thinking, sustainable engineering and digital technologies for civil engineering, and is interested in translating academic research into practical tools for infrastructure monitoring and resilience.
