BIO

Since 2010, I have been working as a Consultant High Risk Obstetrician at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital (C&WH), with a particular interest in cardiac disease in pregnancy. This is a tertiary level service for which I am clinical lead. I am currently the Clinical Director of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at C&WH, a unit delivering over 5000 babies per year. I am a clinically active obstetrician and contribute to all aspects of the service.

During postgraduate clinical training, I completed a Masters Degree in Epidemiology and then went on to undertake a PhD in Obstetric Epidemiology, particularly in evaluating modes of delivery, patient choice and long-term outcomes. Other research at that time was supporting women in decision making regarding mode of delivery.

One of my main professional interests is in MBRRACE-UK, where I am the lead obstetric collaborator and work towards reducing maternal deaths in the UK. For over 10 years I have been involved with MBRRACE-UK as a maternal case reviewer and more recently on the MBRRACE-UK collaborator panel. Each year, I contribute to the preparation of the national annual report and present at the annual conference.

As a Fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, I support their work through my contribution to a range of committees. I am passionate about widening participation and am involved in speaking at schools and supporting students on their journey through medical school.
