TEACHING INTERESTS
Dr Huthwaite is the course lead for two courses in the Mechanical Engineering department. He delivers ME1 Foundational Mechanics, which is a (largely) presessional online course for incoming new students to get them up to speed with mechanics, covering typical basic material from A level, which some students may have never learnt, and others forgotten. He also leads the ME4 Machine Learning course, covering the basic principles of machine learning of relevance to Mechanical Engineering students - attempting to make them into "smart users" of the technology.
In addition, at PhD/EngD level he runs the Radiography course for the FIND CDT (https://www.find-cdt.ac.uk/), teaching both radiography and CT methods.
In other teaching-related responsibilities, Dr Huthwaite is Deputy Senior Tutor (Academic Conduct), helping students in the department avoid academic misconduct, and helping those who haven't managed to avoid it do so in future.
