BIO

Peter Huthwaite completed his PhD in early 2012 in the Imperial Non-Destructive Testing group on tomography for medicine and NDT, and stayed in the group as a post-doc then Research Fellow, before becoming a Lecturer in 2016. He was subsequently promoted to Senior Lecturer then Reader in 2021. He won several large grants including a 5-year £1M EPSRC Early Career Fellowship "Quantitative non-destructive imaging with limited data" 2015-2020 and a £1M project on digital qualification, jointly with Bristol University which he leads.

His research involves ultrasonic imaging and inversion for NDT, medicine and subsea applications. He has also developed numerical methods for simulating ultrasound, including the Pogo software package for high speed simulation - www.pogo.software. On the teaching side he teaches mechanics and machine learning to UG students, and a radiography course for PhD students.
