BIO

Nicola is a Research Associate in the Department of Bioengineering at Imperial College London. His work focuses on engineering advanced biomaterials and 3D in vitro models for huma tissue regeneration and to study human tissue functions/dysfunctions. He develops hydrogel adhesives, bioorthogonal scaffolds, and biofabrication strategies for applications in tissue engineering and modelling.

Nicola earned his European PhD in Bioengineering from Politecnico di Milano (Italy), conducting part of his research at MIT (USA) and Warsaw University of Technology (Poland). He has also been a visiting researcher at the University of Brighton (UK) and Maastricht University (NL). His research is supported by Diabetes UK, the Royal Society, Replacing Animal Research, and the Rosetrees Trust.
