RESEARCH
Nicola’s research lies at the interface of biomaterials science, tissue engineering, and biofabrication. His current interests include:
- Bioorthogonal hydrogels – designing click-based, tunable materials to control cell–matrix interactions and support tissue regeneration.
- Hydrogel adhesives – engineering bioadhesive and injectable hydrogels for soft tissue repair and healing.
- Biofabrication – developing strategies for hydrogel processing under mild, cell-friendly conditions.
- Adipose tissue engineering – creating 3D non-animal biomimetic models of adipose tissue to investigate metabolic dysfunctions.
