BIO

Nicoleta is Manager and MR Physicist of the Biological Imaging Centre (BIC). She joined Imperial College since the launching of the BIC in 2015. In this dual role, she oversees the centre’s day-to-day operations and contributes her expertise in magnetic resonance physics, supporting research, collaboration and the development of advanced imaging methods.

Nicoleta obtained her Ph.D. in MR Physics from Lyon 1 University, France, in 2008. She then completed a four-years postdoc in the Medical Physics department, at University Hospital Freiburg, Germany. After gaining industry experience at Bruker BioSpin as a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Magnetic Particle Imaging (MPI) Scientist, Nicoleta returned to a university-based research environment, joining Imperial College London as the MR Physicist of the Biological Imaging Centre. She subsequently took on the additional role of Manager, overseeing the centre’s day-to-day operations while continuing to support its research activities through her expertise in MR physics and biomedical imaging. Over the years, she has been focused on the medical aspects of MRI, including cardiovascular, oncology and neuroscience imaging applications. Currently she is developing and applying novel multi-parametric magnetic resonance imaging techniques to make progress in the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease.
