Structural studies have centred on clinically important bacterial and viral targets using the techniques of X-ray crystallography at high resolution, High Field NMR, and cryo- Electron Microscopy (cryoEM). The drug targets being studies have been proteins, protein complexes, and protein-DNA complexes in order to elucidate drug binding and catalytic mechanism at close to atomic resolution. Type II DNA topoisomerase studies have been in collaboration with Prof. L. Mark Fisher, Cellular and Molecular Sciences, Neuroscience and Cell Biology Institute, City-St. George's University of London, Prof. Naomi Chayen, Division of Systems Medicine, Dept. of Metabolism, Digestion and Reproduction, Faculty of Medicine, Imperial (the application of new crystallization techniques) and Prof. Henry Rzepa, Dept of Chemistry, Imperial (Quantum Mechanical calculations).
