RESEARCH
My research focus in the following domains:
- Translational: RIPC / general ischemic conditioning and endothelial function surgical and
endovascular related including detection of micro and macro markers of endothelial dysfunction.
- MIECT: minimally invasive cardiopulmonary bypass and anaesthesiology techniques to reduce
the impact of CPB on post-operative outcomes.
- Evidence synthesis, Decision Models, Meta-analysis, Cost Effectiveness. As first author and in
collaboration with international groups, I have published several meta-analyses (RCTs /
observational/ patients’ level) on efficacy of minimally invasive approaches in cardiac surgery.
- Patients’ risk assessment: my group has performed several analyses to evaluate accuracy and
precision of the current risk score (EuroSCORE/STS) and validation in the context of minimally
invasive surgery.
- Medical device: I also patented a novel percutaneous medical device to correct mitral
regurgitation (www.mitbite.it).
- Artificial Intelligence: I also established a specific research group for multiparametric advance
imaging analysis (slicer 3D) to evaluate hypoattenuated valvular lesions (leaflet lesion and
perivalvular) to diagnose early prosthetic valvular disease (details at: www.endotavi.it )
