TEACHING INTERESTS
Main achievements in teaching:
• Established the world’s first MRes course on Microbiome in Health and Disease
• Designed and lead the first undergraduate course module on Microbiome in Health and Disease using Team-based learning (TBL)
• Designed and delivered annually the Hands-on Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectroscopy-based Metabolic Phenotyping course (Continuing Professional Development (CPD) accreditation by the Royal Society of Chemistry and the Royal Society of Medicine)
• Transformed face-to-face teaching/assessment to online platforms during Covid-19 lockdown
Undergraduate Level:
05.2016 - Module Lead of “Microbiome in Health and Disease” BSc Medical Biosciences Year 2
Responsibility: design TBL face-to-face learning activities, write pre-session reading material, create and mark iRAT/tRAT questions, provide feedbacks to students and peers, attend students-teachers liaison meetings, create exam papers, mark exams and essays, and evaluate the formats of the assessment
Postgraduate Level:
10.2014 - MRes stream in Microbiome in Health and Disease
Responsibility: stream lead, designed and established the course, deliver lectures on microbiome and journal clubs, provide formal and informal feedback to students, mark posters, oral presentations, theses and viva; student admission.
Feedback from students: The students gave very positive feedback, and they found the course challenging yet rewarding. The lecturers are very inspiring. They were very satisfied with the support and learning experience.
