  • Integrated modelling of electricity, gas/hydrogen, and heat systems
  • Whole‑system optimisation for planning, operation, and investment
  • Development of large‑scale linear/non-linear/integer optimisation tools
  • Modelling under uncertainty, extreme weather events, and system resilience

 

Flexibility Technologies & System Balancing

  • System value and optimisation of flexibility resources (DSR, storage, V2G, flexible generation)
  • Evaluation of industrial, commercial, and residential flexibility
  • Balancing services, reserve provision, and ancillary services modelling
  • Distributed flexibility integration using VPP frameworks
  • Local vs whole‑system flexibility optimisation

 

Hydrogen Technologies & Infrastructure

  • Role and value of hydrogen for heat, transport and power sectors in secure and low-carbon energy systems
