I lead the STI-microbiota group at the Imperial's Centre for Bacterial Resistance Biology which to date has largely focused on the microbiota-immunopathogenesis of HIV associated premature birth using molecular detection of vaginal bacterial species, microbiological culture and mucosal and systemic immunology techniques. I am now developing a novel ambitious programme of translational Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) research. I have two focus areas: 1. The immunopathogenesis of recurrent BV including AMR and 2. Novel therapeutic strategies for BV.

My wider interests lie in the immuno-pathogenesis of genital tract infections, and HIV co-infection, complementing by my integrated academic clinical specialist training in Genitourinary and HIV Medicine.
