RESEARCH

Catrin's current work focuses on the future role of CDR in global mitigation pathways. While CDR is increasingly recognised as important for limiting global warming to below 1.5 °C, the scale, type, and regional distribution of future deployment remain highly uncertain. Catrin investigates how novel CDR technologies are deployed across regions under different global carbon price trajectories, and how competition for land, energy, and other resources shapes these outcomes. Her research advances the representation of CDR in IAMs by incorporating emerging options and updating technology assumptions to reflect contemporary costs, performance data, and realistic growth constraints.
