BIO
Camilla Halewood is an Honorary Research Associate in the MSk Lab in the Department for Surgery & Cancer.
She works for Embody Orthopaedic, a spin-out from Imperial College.
Before joining the MSk Lab, Camilla worked as Research Assistant in the Biomechanics Research Group, part of the Medical Engineering group within the Department of Mechanical Engineering.
Her research at Imperial has focused on the testing and development of reconstructions for the human knee, looking at treatments for conditions ranging from sports injuries such as anterior cruciate ligament rupture and meniscal tears through to severe osteoarthritis in the older patient. She completed her PhD in June 2016, entitled "Total Knee Replacements: Design and Pre-Clinical Testing".
Prior to joining Imperial College, Camilla worked at the Transport Research Laboratory in Crowthorne, Berkshire, in the Biomechanics Group in the vehicle safety division.
She has a Masters Degree from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia and did a Mechanical Engineering Degree at the University of Oxford.
Camilla is a STEM Ambassador, a scheme run by STEMNET to help promote science, technology, engineering and maths to young people and is generally very keen to promote the STEM subjects.
