TEACHING INTERESTS
Alex's teaching focuses on building the practical capability to address complex healthcare challenges. His approach combines healthcare strategy, human-centred design, innovation and transformation with applied, challenge-led learning.
Rather than treating education as separate from implementation, he is particularly interested in learning through real organisational problems. Participants work with complex challenges, evidence and stakeholder perspectives to understand problems more deeply, develop and test possible responses, and consider the organisational conditions required for implementation, adoption and sustained value.
At Imperial, Alex leads and develops postgraduate, executive and professional education spanning healthcare design, digital transformation, innovation, AI and organisational capability. His work includes programme and curriculum strategy, learning design, executive and professional programmes, challenge-based learning and partnerships with healthcare and industry organisations.
A central principle of his teaching is that education should do more than transfer knowledge: it should build capability that people and organisations can use in practice. The aim is to help participants develop the confidence, methods and ways of thinking needed to navigate complexity, work across professional and organisational boundaries, and translate ideas into meaningful change.
