BIO

Dr Yi Yang is a Research Associate in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London. Before joining the Tribology Group at Imperial College London, he graduated from the University of Aberdeen with his PhD degree in 2025. His research focuses on the applications of image-based multiscale modelling mechanisms in biological engineering and physiological systems, including biofluid transport and nano-drug delivery within brain tumours, fluid-solid interaction between pulsatile hemodynamics, cerebral vessel and brain tissue, and dynamic behaviours of the electrically stimulated hydrogel-based soft applications (ongoing). His research has been recognised with several awards, including the Emerging Talent Prize for the best PhD student by the Chinese Society of Chemical Science and Technology in the UK (2025) and the Great Britain-China Educational Trust Award (2025). He received his BEng and MSc degrees in Ocean and Structural Engineering from Wuhan University of Technology, China.
