BIO

Mr Yousuf Salmasi is a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the Department of Surgery and post-CCT cardiothoracic surgeon. 

He graduated from Imperial College School of Medicine in 2011 with distinction and completed his training in Cardiothoracic Surgery in the London Deanery (FRCS-CTh). He completed his PhD in the field of cardiovascular sciences on the topic of thoracic aortic aneurysms and predictive models for aortic dissection. 

His academic interests include 4D-flow MRI of the cardiovascular system, aortic biomechanics, diagnostic models for aortic dissection, gene mutations in aortopathies and meta analysis. In 2019, he co-founded the London Aortic Mechanobiology Working Group, dedicated in producing multi-disciplinary research for thoracic aortopathy. His research has been supported by the NIHR, British Heart Foundation and Heart Research UK.
