DrFelix Feng

Felix (Yuxiang) Feng is Research Fellow and Manager of the Intelligent Infrastructure and Transport Systems Laboratory (IITS) in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. His research focuses on trustworthy artificial intelligence for intelligent and autonomous transport, with particular interests in transport safety, resilient autonomy, multimodal AI, vision-language models, trajectory prediction, positioning and cyber-physical systems.

His research combines artificial intelligence, sensing, simulation and physical systems to understand and mitigate risks in increasingly automated transport environments. Current work spans AI-enabled risk perception and prediction, safety and resilience of autonomous systems, high-integrity positioning, intelligent infrastructure, and explainable and uncertainty-aware decision-making. He works closely with academic, government and industry partners on applied research in autonomous mobility, road safety, transport operations and infrastructure resilience.

Felix also contributes to postgraduate teaching and research supervision in intelligent and autonomous transport, machine learning and transport systems. As Manager of the IITS Laboratory, he supports the development and operation of experimental facilities for autonomous systems, positioning, simulation, robotics and AI-enabled transport research.

Before joining Imperial, Felix completed a PhD in Mechanical Engineering at the Institute for Advanced Automotive Propulsion Systems (IAAPS), University of Bath. He also holds an MSc in Mechatronics from the University of Bath and a BEng in Mechatronics from Tongji University.
