DrVicki Kerr

I am a Teaching Fellow at Imperial College London and practising artist. I received my PhD in Fine Art from Goldsmiths, University of London in 2014 and have for many years lived and worked in the UK and New Zealand.  Since 2024 I have designed and delivered the Practical Art (drawing) modules though the Imperial Horizons and I -Explore programme, which allow STEM students to study creative and observational studio arts for degree credit.

Initially trained as an air traffic controller, I deploy insights from engineering, aeronautics and materials science within my artistic work to speculate on how (aero)mobility shapes the way we live on Earth. Expanding upon my interest in culture/nature relations, technological sensing and mediation - particularly elemental processes that are at the limit of our sensing capacities, I explore imaginative and scientific modes to think about alternate ways of living for a sustainable future, through an interdisciplinary practice spanning installation, video, sound, photography, sculpture and art writing.
