BIO
Dr. Tsz-Kan Ma received his M.Sci. in Chemistry with Medicinal Chemistry at Imperial College. He continued his Ph.D. studies under the supervision of Prof. Anthony G. M. Barrett, focusing on the biomimetic total synthesis of meroterpenoid natural products. During his Ph.D. studies, he completed the total synthesis of 12 diverse bioactive meroterpenoid natural products, including hongoquercin A and B and austalides, using a highly flexible cascade biomimetic approach.
After completing his Ph.D., Dr. Ma joined UCL as a research fellow in organic electrosynthetic chemistry with Dr. Jonathan D. Wilden to develop sustainable tin-free radical reactions. He has since returned to Imperial College London, where he is currently working with Dr. James A. Bull as a research associate in synthetic chemistry. His current research focuses on developing transition metal catalysed, electrochemical C-H functionalisation reactions.
