Research Area of Focus:
Patient Outcomes in Vascular Surgery
Outcomes in Venous Disease
Randomised Controlled Trials
Currently recruiting trials:
NMES for DPN - Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation For The Treatment of Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy
Frailty in Vascular Patients - Assessment of patient frailty in those undergoing vascular surgery.
Recently completed trials:
COMFETTI - Compression after foam sclerotherapy for varicose veins
MOCA vs CAE - Mechanochemical Ablation versus Cyanoacrylate Occlusion of truncal varicose veins
FoS vs AP - Foam Sclerotherapy versus Ambulatory Phlebectomy for varicosed tributary veins
NMES for Rehabilitation after Surgery
Remote Prehabilitation for Aneurysm Surgery - Pilot
Clinical Need
Vascular surgery is complex and demanding specialty with highly co-morbid patients. Optimising patients, procedure and techniques is key to improving outcomes.
Aneurysms are an asymptomatic burden of disease, with significant interventions and lifelong aftercare.
Varicose veins and venous disease is a common and poorly understood condition. Patients suffer extensive quality of life impairments whilst excellent treatments are available.
Our research investigates optimal treatment pathways for patients with vascular conditions.
