BIO

Tobias Kretschmer is a Professor of Strategy, Technology and Organisation at Imperial College Business School. He holds a PhD in Economics from London Business School and an MSc in Strategy from the University of St. Gallen. Prior to joining Imperial, he held full-time positions at LMU Munich, London School of Economics and INSEAD. He is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research in London, a visiting scholar at NOVA SBE in Lisbon, and has held visiting positions at Bocconi University and University College London.

His work focuses on competitive strategy in digital industries, especially platform markets and digital transformation in organizations. Among others, his work appeared in Strategic Management Journal, Organization Science, Management Science, American Economic Review, Marketing Science and Information Systems Research. He has editorial positions at Strategy Science, International Journal of Industrial Organization, Industry and Innovation, and the Journal of Organization Design and is in the leadership team of AOM’s Technology and Innovation Management Division and Vice Chair of the Organization Design Community. Further, he is past chair of the Strategy Science Chapter of INFORMS and the SMS Knowledge & Innovation Interest Group.
