RESEARCH
My background is in tropical forest arthropod community ecology, which latterly developed into multi-taxon tropical forest biodiversity assessment and monitoring as well. Much of this work was performed in collaboration with Operation Wallacea in the neotropics.
As part of work developing detailed understanding of understudied tropical forest biodiversity I expanded into exploring the arthropod community of the canopy and the use of molecular methods for biodiversity discovery and ecology. Previous and ongoing work with Alfried Vogler at the NHM has included exploration of global evolutionary patterns of beetles through genetics, and the development of a global network of sites to explore patterns of diversity across scales.
Other research work has dabbled in climate change impacts, particularly using big-data approaches to understand impacts of ENSO on crop productivity as well as potential impacts of climate change on canopy arthropods.
