BIO

Smaragda (Magda) Lampridou is a cardiovascular nurse and a NIHR Doctoral Fellow, funded by NIHR/HEE. She has a masters in Preventive Cardiology from ICL and her research interest lies within cardiovascular risk modification through patient-centred behavioural interventions. Magda is currently based at the Academic Department of Vascular Surgery at ICL and she is being supervised by Professor Mary Wells, Professor Alun Davies, Dr Rachael Lear and Dr Gaby Judah.

Magda was awarded two pre-doctoral fellowships, the Imperial Health Charity and the NIHR PCAF. During her pre-doctoral project (Sep2021-Sep2023) she used mixed-methods to explore factors affecting adherence to guideline-recommended therapy in patients with peripheral arterial disease. This work set the foundation for her PhD project "Developing a personalised intervention to support treatment adherence in patients with peripheral arterial disease using the perceptions and practicalities approach".

Magda co-leads the Post-Graduate Research Forum, as space for peer review, training and collaboration for NMAHPPs conducting a pre-doctoral, doctoral or post-doctoral fellowship. She is also a coach at Starting Out in Research, supporting aspiring clinical academics to start a career in research.
