BIO

Dr Shiva Thambiah Radhakrishnan is a gastroenterology consultant in North West Thames. He has undertaken a PhD under the primary supervision of Professor Horace Williams in the Department of Metabolism, Digestion and Reproduction at Imperial College London.

He completed his undergraduate medical training at Imperial College, graduating in 2012 and commenced his speciality training in 2016.
His research interests include exploring the role of the gut microbiota composition and functionality in distinguishing between IBD phenotypes and the bi-directional relationship between medication and the gut microbiota in predicting response to IBD therapies.

He is a keen recruiter to clinical trials, serving as the sub-PI for local recruitment to the PROFILE trial in Crohn's disease in addition to the ASECO trial more recently.

He has presented his research both nationally and internationally. His previous work in Alimentary Pharmacology & Therapeutics was in the top 10 most-cited articles (2022-23).

 

He remains committed to teaching and training having completed a certificate and diploma in Medical Education. He uses those skills as an examiner for Imperial College London and as the current undergraduate firm lead for gastroenterology at St Mary's for which he has recieved a commendation.
