Dr Shang Yu is a Research Associate and UKRI Guarantee Marie Curie Fellow in Department of Physics, Light Community.
Shang obtained his PhD in Physics from the University of Science and Technology China (USTC) in 2020. Throughout his doctoral studies, he primarily focused on conducting quantum simulation experiments utilizing linear optics. In Feb. 2022, Shang joined Imperial College London, where his research focuses on photonic quantum computation and integrated photonics.
Shang has achieved significant research milestones, including performing the first experiment to verify the non-additivity of quantum channel capacity and successfully constructing a parity-time symmetry-enhanced quantum sensor. Recently, he developed a universal, programmable, temporally encoded photonic quantum computing system and applied it to drug discovery problems.
Currently, Shang's research focuses on scalable and distributed photonic quantum computing, quantum optical neural networks, and error correction for achieving universal photonic quantum computing. He has authored or co-authored over 60 peer-reviewed papers (h-index: 23, citations: 2003).
