RESEARCH

Research Interests

Professor Khan has published extensively on various aspects of liver disease and he is currently chairing a national study of biliary tract/cholangiocarcinoma epidemiology, in partnership with Public Health England and the AMMF Charity. Professor Khan also has an interest in biomarker development using “omic” technology and has published on metabolomic and proteomic analysis of biofluids in hepatobiliary cancer. He is currently supervising projects in conjunction with colleagues in the Department of Chemistry at Imperial College London to develop aptamers for diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers in hepatopancreaticobiliary cancer, as well as a projects on liver cancer screening. He is also Chief Investigator for a Cancer Research funded National trial of cancer chemoprevention in liver disease.
