BIO

Overview

I lead the interdisciplinary Ecosystem Sensing research group in the Department of Life Sciences under the university's I-X AI in Science initiative. We develop new sensors, robotics, and AI analysis approaches for next-generation biodiversity monitoring systems.

Though we work with a wide range of modalities, we specialise in acoustic monitoring of natural environments. Our research is biome agnostic and we have worked on projects in Bornean rainforests, Taiwanese tea farms, British scrublands, and more.

We work with other scientists, conservation NGOs, and small and large companies on applications spanning conservation, ecology, pest control, supply chain transparency, and more.

Some recent research highlights include:

For our group's most up to date publications, see my Google Scholar, and I post lab updates and openings on LinkedIn.

Consultancy

I regularly provide small (e.g., startups) and large (e.g., multinationals) private and charity sector organisations with expert consultancy, either independently or through Imperial Consultants. Common services include scientific advisory, technical reviews, and focussed efforts to develop hardware/AI prototypes. Please reach out for more details.

PhDs and Postdoctoral fellowships

If you are interested in applying for an externally funded PhD or postdoctoral fellowship to be hosted in our lab, please send me an email with your CV, the opportunity you'd like to target, and a brief description of your research interests.

Occasionally, competitive internally funded PhD studentships are available. See the departmental page for more information.

For enquiries regarding the Imperial President's PhD Scholarship, do check our lab's eligibility first.
