MissSarah Whittley

Sarah Whittley is a Clinical Trial Manager in the academic vascular surgery section of the Department of Surgery and Cancer. She completed her PhD at Imperial College London after graduating with a BSc in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Edinburgh.

She has over six years’ experience working in both academic and commercial clinical trials across a range of therapeutic areas, including vascular surgery and COVID-19 vaccination research. In her current role, Sarah supports all stages of clinical trial delivery, from study design through to completion and dissemination of results. 

Sarah's doctoral research examined the role of pharmacological thromboprophylaxis in patients undergoing superficial endovenous treatment. She currently manages an NIHR-funded, multicentre, assessor-blind randomised controlled trial investigating thromboprophylaxis in this patient population. Sarah has also contributed to previous NIHR-funded multicentre randomised controlled trials, including a study evaluating the effectiveness of graduated compression stockings in preventing venous thromboembolism in low-risk surgical patients.
