BIO

Mosquito-borne diseases contribute a large proportion of infectious disease globally. Despite concerted efforts to reduce mortality and morbidity effects, progress has slowed for a number of reasons. Novel and innovative technologies are being developed to tackle this issue but without understanding mosquito biology and ecology, we cannot effectively implement these techniques or develop additional ones which exploit mosquito biology.

My research interests focus on answering questions in mosquito biology and behavioural ecology by utilising field and molecular techniques in order to improve understanding and utilise this knowledge to plan and implement mosquito control tools. I am currently a PhD candidate at Silwood Park in the Life Sciences department investigating the effect of nectar feeding on the fitness and vectorial capacity of Aedes albopictus.
