BIO

Sara is an NIHR PSRC-funded PhD candidate at Imperial College London's Institute of Global Health Innovation, supervised by Prof the Lord Ara Darzi and Dr Ana Luísa Neves. Her PhD uses AI models on Electronic Health Records to study gestational diabetes, building high-risk prediction models to improve care pathways. She works directly with clinicians and midwives to keep the models clinically relevant.

Sara holds a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics and an MRes in Bioinformatics with Distinction from Imperial College London. She has worked across Imperial, UCL, King's Health Partners, and NHS Trusts on genomics, wearables, and large-scale EHR datasets, including UK Biobank, CPRD, WSIC, TriNetX, and HES. Her expertise spans statistical modelling, real-world evidence generation, systematic reviews, health technology assessment, and machine learning, with 30+ publications across these themes.

Sara has been awarded the Imperial Global Seed Fund, supported by the Turing Scheme through the Imperial Global Fellows Programme. She was based in the Division of Health Informatics and Artificial Intelligence at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City, working under the supervision of Dr Yiye Zhang using local EHR data to build predictive and causal inference models for gestational diabetes risk and management.

Before her PhD, Sara led digital transformation, opportunity sizing, and go-to-market strategy work at EY-Parthenon for NHS, biotech, and MedTech clients, including NHS Digital, the NHS App, Cera Care, Royalty Pharma, and Oxford University Innovation.

Sara welcomes new collaboration, please feel free to get in touch directly.

Outside of work, Sara enjoys playing the piano, taking ballet classes, and reading.
