BIO

I am a specialty registrar (ST6) in General Surgery (NHS Tayside, Scotland) with a special interest in upper GI surgery. I am currently working as a clinical research fellow in the Department of Surgery and Cancer, and pursuing a PhD under the supervision of Professor George B Hanna (ICL), Professor Linda Sharples (LSHTM) and Dr Sara Jamel (ICL).

My PhD study is titled ViSON (Volatile Organic Compounds as Breath Biomarkers in Squamous oesophageal Neoplasms), which aims to develop a breath-based clinical prediction model to diagnose oesophageal squamous cell carcinoma. Further information about the ViSON study is available on our dedicated website (https://www.thehannagroup.org/vison/) and twitter page - @ViSONstudy (https://x.com/visonstudy).

The ViSON study is funded through a 3-year Doctoral Fellowship awarded by the National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR) from April 2024 to April 2027.
