DrSomayeh Rostamian, PhD

Somayeh Rostamian, PhD, is a Senior Data Manager and Clinical Researcher at Imperial College London. She began her undergraduate studies in Biological Sciences in 2003 at Shiraz University, Shiraz, Iran. In 2008, she relocated to the Netherlands and commenced a Master’s programme in Molecular Life Sciences at Maastricht University in 2009. After earning her first Master’s degree in 2011, she moved to Leiden to pursue a second Master’s in Vitality and Ageing, graduating from the Leyden Academy in 2012.

In 2013, Somayeh began her doctoral studies in Neuroscience and Epidemiology under the supervision of Professor Dr van Buchem at Leiden University Medical Centre, Leiden, the Netherlands. Since 2014, she has also worked as a freelance science journalist and communication specialist for several prominent broadcasting organisations, including the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) in London and Euronews in Lyon, France.

Somayeh joined Imperial College London in October 2019. Her research focuses on cardiovascular risk factors, diagnostic tools, and preventive strategies in ageing populations. She is actively involved in several high-profile projects, including the Anglo-Scandinavian Cardiac Outcomes Trial (ASCOT), ASCOT Legacy, and FOURIER Legacy, in her capacity as a Data Manager and Clinical Researcher at the Imperial Centre for Translational and Experimental Medicine (ICTEM), Hammersmith Campus.
