BIO
Dr Shevanthi Nayagam is a Clinical Associate Professor and Honorary Consultant Hepatologist, working between the Department of Infectious Disease Analysis and Department of Metabolism Digestion and Reproduction in Imperial College London. Her interdisciplinary research bridges clinical research, modelling and health-economics, in guiding public health policy towards the elimination of viral hepatitis, with a focus on low- and middle income countries.
She is currently leading the multi-country IMPACT-B study evaluating the effectiveness of hepatitis B birth dose vaccination in Africa and the Imperial College Viral Hepatitis Applied Modelling group . She is a member of the PROLIFICA research group (https://www.prolifica.africa/) and the Vaccine Impact Modelling Consortium (https://www.vaccineimpact.org/). She has worked with WHO in various advisory roles (including guidelines development) and supported ministries of health in development of their national hepatitis strategies.
