DrStefania Maneta Stavrakaki

Dr Stefania Maneta-Stavrakaki is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Imperial College London specialising in spatial metabolomics and lipidomics. Her research focuses on applying mass spectrometry imaging to uncover the metabolic mechanisms that drive cancer progression and therapy response.

During her PhD, she developed novel ambient ionisation mass spectrometry methods for the high-throughput, real-time analysis of live cells. Currently, she utilises advanced mass spectrometry imaging approaches to investigate tumour–microenvironment interactions and fibrosis in both in vitro co-culture and patient-derived organoid models, as well as tissue samples.

Her work, supported by CRUK, the Convergence Science Centre, Ruth Prosser Women’s Cancer Research Award, and Sarcoma UK, integrates spatial metabolomics with translational cancer models. She also collaborates with industrial partners including GSK and Waters Corporation to advance mass spectrometry technologies for cancer research.
