My principal research interests are advanced vibrational spectroscopy, molecular interactions and materials processing. I develop FTIR spectroscopic chemical imaging methods and apply them to materials characterisation, pharmaceuticals, drug delivery, biomedical samples, microfluidics, high-throughput analysis of dynamic systems, nanostructured materials, forensic science and the analysis of objects of cultural heritage. My research interests also include applications of Raman spectroscopy to polymeric and biomedical materials, including depth profiling with confocal Raman microscopy and nanoscale imaging with tip-enhanced Raman spectroscopy.

My current research interests include spectroscopic imaging of live cancer cells and tissues for advancing healthcare diagnostics; I also collaborate closely with neurosurgeons at the Charing Cross Hospital as well as participate in the activities of CLIRSPEC.
