DrSteven Humphreys

Dr Steve J. Humphreys is a joint Postdoctoral Research Associate in Thrombosis Research at City St George’s, University of London, and an Honorary Research Associate at Imperial College London, funded by the British Heart Foundation. Working within the group of Dr Isabelle Salles-Crawley and Professor James Crawley, his research focuses on targeting von Willebrand factor (VWF)-platelet priming and immunothrombosis for the prevention of venous thrombosis.

Dr Humphreys completed his PhD in Medical Sciences at the University of Aberdeen, where his thesis, “Modelling of thrombus dynamics in a microfluidic ‘vasculature’,” explored the biophysical and cellular mechanisms regulating thrombus formation and resolution under flow using advanced microfluidic platforms. His work combines endothelial biology, platelet function, and flow-based modelling to understand how vascular inflammation and haemodynamic forces drive thrombosis.

Prior to his doctoral research, Dr Humphreys held senior scientific roles at Scotia Biologics Ltd. in Aberdeen, leading antibody development and translational research projects in immuno-oncology. He also holds an MPhil in Immunology and a BSc (Hons) in Human Embryology and Developmental Biology, both from the University of Aberdeen.
