Work

Her work is focued on building sustained acute & emergency provider response capabilities at scale - through digital innovation and innovative financing; grounded in cross institutional, collaborative, development focus research, globally.

With a research focus on implementation science, knowledge mobilisaton, digital innovation and education efficiency, her research is grounded in social sciences, quality improvement and particpartory approaches, ensuring transfer of knowledge custody to local practitioners for a contextual, resilient and capable integrated emergency care system.   

Specifically in the post-crash/event chain of survival, her  academic work is also supporting scaling immediate provider response by leveraging technology, AI-digital triage and low-cost ‘messy’ mobile phone data to improve outcomes.

Academically, she sit at across several prestigious institutes and associations, allowing for cross- institutional collaboration -another active choice and core value of her approach to making impact, beyond the structural institutions constraints, but rather with agile, forward thinking global emergency care innovative collaborators.

She is an Associate Professor at The George Washington University where she also serve as the Senior Associate Director of Ronald Reagan Institute of Emergency Medicine; a  Senior Researcher position in Global Injury unit at The George Institute for Global Health at Imperial College London

In addition Dr Gidwani still practices clinically in the NHS at Chelsea & Westminster NHS Trust and still hold a medical licence to practice in India.

Training
She graduated from Seth G.S. Medical College/King Edward Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, India in 2003. She completed her core training in emergency medicine at Manchester Royal Infirmary and critical care fellowship at St Helens' and Knowsley Trust, UK. She then moved to London where she completed her speciality higher training in emergency medicine through the north-west London deanery rotating through St Mary's major trauma centre, Charring Cross Hospital, Northwick Park Hospital and Chelsea & Westminster NHS Trust. During her training she carried on her field work in global emergency care while also completing a fellowships patient safety under the supervision of Prof Charles Vincent at the Centre for Patient Safety and Service Quality (CPSSQ) at Imperial College in 2012.
