BIO
Dr. Silvia Galli studied for her BSc and Msc in Molecular Biology at the University of Pavia (Italy). She received her PhD from the University of Cambridge (UK), under the supervision of Professor Sir Shankar Balasubramanian. During her doctoral studies, she developed expertise in the generation and application of recombinant antibodies to investigate chromatin features in genomics research. Following her PhD, she joined Imperial College London as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Di Antonio’s group, expanding her research into the role of DNA secondary structures as epigenetic features involved in ageing.
Overall, her combined research experience at Cambridge University and Imperial College London has provided her with a comprehensive research foundation in molecular and cell biology, genomics, and biochemistry.
RESEARCH INTEREST
My research interests include understanding biological processes at the molecular level, with a particular focus on genomics and epigenetics. I use genomics-based approaches to investigate how the chromatin landscape changes during ageing, aiming to understand the relationship between epigenetic modifications and ageing-related implications in C.elegans.
