BIO
I am a Senior Postdoctoral Researcher in the Imperial-Shell Digital Rocks Program, with over ten years of experience in modelling and simulating multiphase flow in porous media at both pore and continuum scales. My research addresses the challenges of multiphase flow in porous materials, which are critical for applications such as electrochemical devices, hydrogen storage, advancing process design, CCS, geothermal energy, groundwater management, and preserving natural construction materials.
As the energy landscape transitions from fossil fuels to renewables, my expertise in pore-scale phenomena is critical in supporting this shift. The intermittent nature of renewable energy sources and fluctuations in energy demand necessitate efficient integration to maintain grid stability. This requires advanced systems for energy storage and conversion. These processes rely heavily on electrochemical devices such as batteries, fuel cells, and electrolyzers.
Porous materials play a pivotal role in energy devices, providing extensive surface areas for critical chemical reactions. Understanding the intricate physics within these complex porous structures is crucial for optimizing the design and performance of electrochemical devices used in energy storage and conversion systems. Similarly, subsurface reservoirs offer vast storage capacities, enabling the storage of terawatt-hours of energy in the form of hydrogen generated from renewable sources. In the context of the ongoing energy transition, my work aims to address these challenges, ensuring that energy conversion and storage systems are effectively utilized to meet the growing demands of a renewable energy future.
