BIO
I am an academic family physician, combining clinical practice as a General Practitioner in London with research in health systems and primary health care. I hold a Master’s degree in Primary Care Research from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (2018) and a PhD in Primary Care and Public Health from Queen Mary University of London (2023).
I am currently a Postdoctoral Clinical Fellow at the School of Public Health, Imperial College London, where I contribute to the scientific work of the Lancet PRIME Commission (Pandemic Readiness through Institutions Mobilising Communities and Equity) and support the development of the George Institute for Global Health’s strategy on Health in Humanitarian Settings. Alongside this role, I hold a part-time position at the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, University of Oxford, where I work on comparative international analyses of primary health care workforce policy and practice in socioeconomically deprived and underserved populations, supported by an NIHR Senior Practitioner and Clinician Award.
My previous research, funded by the ESRC and NIHR, examined the implementation and impact of social prescribing in underserved communities. I have also worked as a consultant for the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) and maintain collaborations with the WHO Collaborating Centre for Quality and Equity in Primary Health Care Systems at Amsterdam UMC and the WHO European Centre for Primary Health Care.
My research focuses on primary health care systems, health workforce policy and comparative health systems research. I am particularly interested in understanding how health systems can improve access, quality, equity, and workforce sustainability in socioeconomically deprived and underserved populations. My work combines qualitative, quantitative and mixed-methods approaches, drawing on theoretically informed, methodologically diverse approaches to study health systems and organisational change.
