BIO
Semra is currently a research associate at the Sustainable Gas Institute (SGI) working as part of the Methane and Environment Programme. She joined the SGI in 2020 from Royal Holloway, University of London, following her PhD in Earth Science. Her PhD research focused on isotopic characterisation and quantification of methane emissions from waste sources in Europe as a part of MEMO2 : MEthane goes MObile-MEasurement and MOdeling a European Training Network (H2020 MSCA-ETN) project. Previously, she worked for three years as an environmental process engineer in a petroleum refinery in Turkey. In 2014, she successfully completed her MSc in Environmental Engineering & Earth Science at Clemson University, US as a Fulbright Scholar. She graduated from Middle East Technical University, Turkey with a double major in Chemical Engineering and Environmental Engineering in 2012 and 2011, respectively.
Semra's research interests include methane and hydrogen emissions, biomethane supply chain processes, negative emission technologies, energy system modelling and life cycle assessment.
