DrRyan Williams

I am a consultant psychiatrist at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, and an honorary clinical lecturer at  Imperial College London (Department of Brain Sciences) and King’s College London (Department of Health Service & Population Research).
 
My research has focused on the evaluation of mental health services and interventions, especially for people experiencing the early stages of psychosis.
 
I have a particular interest in the role of complex trauma in mental illness, including its relationship with dissociative and other unusual experiences, and with difficulties involving mood, identity, relationships and emotional regulation.
 
I have broad experience across adult psychiatry and in working with people with complex and overlapping mental health conditions. I am committed to evidence-based, trauma-informed care, with a particular focus on service-user involvement and addressing inequalities in access to and experience of treatment.
