BIO
Dr. Reza Haghighi Osgouei is a researcher and engineer with a multidisciplinary background in electrical engineering, computer science, and simulation technology. He holds B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering (Control Systems), and an M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering. His work focuses on designing and developing simulation-based systems that combine electromechanical hardware, real-time control, and sensor technology. Since 2018, he has been part of the Simulation and Modelling in Medicine and Surgery (SiMMS) group at Imperial College London, where he has led and contributed to several high-fidelity simulation platforms for medical training. He has also developed several realistic and anatomically accurate surgical training models, utilising 3D printing and silicone casting, to support preoperative planning, medical education, and patient engagement.
Reza’s research is driven by his interest in building simulated environments that bring together hardware, software, and control to support skill learning, training, and performance testing. He is especially interested in human-in-the-loop systems that include real-time feedback, embedded control, and data processing. His work includes projects from haptic medical simulators to force-feedback driving systems, with the goal of making simulations more realistic and useful. Outside of academic work, Reza enjoys hands-on projects, such as 3D design and print, crafting musical instruments, and building robots. Living and working in Iran, South Korea, and the UK has helped him become a collaborative and adaptable engineer who pays attention to detail.
